Change Your Perception to Change Your Life – Mindset Monday

Is there a connection between your gut and your brain?

How does your gut relate to your mind?

You’ve probably heard me talk about the fact that 95% of your serotonin – the “happy” chemical – is actually in your gut.

mm1That means that the health of your gut strongly affects your mood, not just your digestion and immunity. It’s got a big job!

Cause and Effect

We’ve all been there.

You wake up and stub your toe. You curse and hop around, mad that it happened.  It’s amazing how that simple act can cause you to begin thinking negative thoughts. That one small act has the potential to cause your day to unfold in an unsettling way.

But YOU have the option to choose differently. To instead decide that it’s not going to affect you or your mood.

That decision becomes much harder when your gut is a wreck because of this important little chemical – serotonin. And that’s why I want you to understand the importance of your gut health as it relates to every single aspect of your mind and body.

Perception Is Tricky

When something comes up in your life – even something as minor as stubbing your toe out of bed, it’s easy to let that get to us. If we let it.

Now this may be a bold statement, but I believe that things show up in our existence due to our perception of our circumstances and the world around us. Not necessarily due to the cold hard facts. What’s truly going on.

If you are committed to living in a state of joy and abundance, don’t you want to be able to do so on a daily basis with little effort? Wouldn’t it be amazing to just BE that way and FEEL that way every day… instead of the all too common seesaw of emotions that people are facing on a daily basis?

It’s possible. It starts with you. It starts with deciding what you want, deciding how you want to view the world and your circumstances – and taking action.

A Story

Have you ever encountered a person that just seems to be angry all the time? You think it might just be their personality… or maybe their gut is just a mess causing them to find the worst in everything. That serotonin I tell ya!

I knew a person like this.

Every time I would see him, he was anxious and moody and seemed constantly irritated. He just seemed to be angry all the time.

But then one day, I walked into the gym and there he was, smiling and radiant!

So I asked him, “Jaxson, what happened? What have you been doing?”

He told me that he started with a 5 day juice cleanse and realized how important the role of proper nutrition really was. And he began to clean up his diet!

This guy used to drink multiple sodas a day! Now he was JUICING!

He was feeling incredible – and it showed!

Now he’s the one poking fun at people who seem angry all the time and he’s become one of the happiest people that I know. And it all started with real food. He decided he wanted something better and he took action.

mm2

It’s not always an easy transition either. But you’re worth the effort. Just remember that. And you don’t have to do it alone.

The Solution

When you learn how to better support your internal body, and in this instance, your gut – using juicing and whole foods –  everything starts to change.

Instead of thinking about what to remove, I want you to focus on what to include! This is called “crowding in” and it’s powerfully effective.

Begin to:

1. Juice. This is of course a huge supporter to overall health as it feeds and fuels your body on a cellular level using a plethora of micronutrients. Most people are not getting the recommended dose of fruits and veggies each day. This makes it so much easier. And it tastes great!

2. Eat Fermented Foods. These are a great addition as well. They are loaded with probiotics, which are the healthy bacteria our guts thrive on. If you prefer a supplement form of probiotics, we formulated a multi-strain probiotic last year called Biotic Balance. You just need one daily. It’s what I use. Because let’s face it, when I am traveling it’s hard to get fermented foods everywhere. And I know you have a busy schedule too.

3. Drink More Water. Staying hydrated is critical to your overall health. Some #’s to consider:

  • Your blood is 92% water.
  • Your muscles are 75% water.
  • Your bones are 22% water.
  • Your brain is 75% water.
  • The average adult loses 10 cups of water a day by sweating, breathing, urinating and going number 2!

4. Change Your Perception. This is huge and really difficult for a lot of people. You may be one of those people and that’s okay! Your awareness alone is a great first step to change that and begin to upgrade your thoughts.

“Strength does not come from physical capacity.

It comes from an indomitable will.”

– Mahatma Gandhi

WILLPOWER.

We all have it. But are you using it to your advantage?

The Number 1 Reason Why Most People Don’t Stick To Their Goals

The results of the American Psychological Association’s annual Stress in America Survey regularly cite lack of willpower as the number 1 reason people don’t follow through on healthy lifestyle changes.

But lack of willpower isn’t the only reason you might fail to reach your goals.

Willpower researcher Roy Baumeister, PhD, a psychologist at Florida State University, describes three necessary components for achieving objectives:

#1: Establish the motivation for change and set a clear goal.

#2: Monitor your behavior toward that goal.

#3: Practice willpower.

So no matter what you are looking to achieve, be it weight loss, personal growth, less time on social media, willpower is a critical step to achieving that outcome.

WHERE DO YOU FALL ON THE WILLPOWER METER?

Screen-Shot-2016-01-11-at-3.47.24-PMTake a look at the habits you have formed in your life up to this point.

Those habits are the very things that have brought you to the place you are right now. Are you where you want to be?

Don’t worry if you’re not. The good news is that every moment of every day is a chance to create something new. Something to bring you closer to the life you envision for yourself.

You don’t have to continue on the path you’re on unless you want to. Only YOU can change the outcome. And it comes back to willpower: the training of your thoughts and actions to create positive habits that drive you to the place of your dreams.

A habit that I adopted many years ago was to make my bed as soon as I got up. A Navy Seal friend of mine told me that was one of the things they were required to do in the morning as well. Doing this gives your mind the impression that you have accomplished something. You’ve already built up willpower.

INCREASE YOUR WILLPOWER – CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVE

An exercise that I like to do every day is to talk to Drew in the future.

Visualize yourself in the future – what would it take to become your future self right now, in the present moment?

Visualizing things as if they already are closes the gap between time and space, bringing you into the present moment. It’s a powerful way to turn your dreams and desires into reality.

Try it each morning and see how your life begins to change.

Mindless To Mindful In 5 Minutes A Day – Mindset Monday

organifi-web22

Get the mp3/podcast of this episode free on iTunes

“Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.” – Francis Chan

Today, I want to talk to you about WHAT really matters to you.

If you are going to live the fullest expression of life possible, you need to become vividly aware of what has meaning to YOU – not your friends or family members. Because it will be different for everyone.

We do a lot of things throughout the year, day, minutes that don’t matter. They have no meaning when it comes to creating the life we truly want.

Like watching mindless television, or endlessly scrolling through facebook, looking at someone you knew in highschool to see how they are doing.

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier

What matters most to me… is this 5 minute ritual that I start my day with.

You may have seen my 7 step morning ritual and if so, then you know meditation is an important part of my day.

Before you stop listening and think “I don’t have time to meditate” – I want to show you how easy it can be because the truth is, no matter how busy you are, you absolutely DO have the time. It’s up to you to make it a priority and I want to encourage you to do so.

First, I want you to start with a commitment of trying this out for a week – just 5 minutes a day. If you want to go longer, great!

Find a quiet place to sit with yourself. Maybe that is in nature… maybe it is in your car… I like to sit on a meditation pillow in my living room or somewhere outdoors in the San Diego sunshine. Wherever YOU feel comfortable, that’s where I want you to go.

drew1

Sit upright with your legs crossed in front of you if that feels good. Light some candles if you’d like. But no music. You want to eliminate any distractions. Set a timer so you can get used to the timeframe. Eventually, you may not want to use this at all.

Press start on your timer and begin…

Take 3 deep cleansing breaths – deep breath in through your nose and a strong open mouth exhale to release. Repeat this 2 more times.

Now close your eyes if you haven’t done so already… or opt for an awakened meditation, keeping your eyes open (this takes practice to avoid distractions, but I know you can do it!).

If your eyes are open, find an object to focus on. This will help you stay present.

As you breathe in, zoom in on that object and as you breathe out, allow your peripheral vision to expand.

If a mantra resonates with you, use that!

Mantras are great, especially as you get started with meditation. The easiest way to use mantras is to pick 2 words. Something you want more of in your life – and something you want to release

It could also just be a statement that resonates with you such as LET GO.

Your breath is your focus here, not your thoughts so keep this very simple so you don’t allow your mind to wander.

We’ll use LET GO here as an example.

With your lips sealed, take a deep inhale to the word LET…

Exhale deeply thru your nose the word GO.

If you feel like you need to open your mouth to release, go for it!

The goal is to repeat this affirmation as many times as you feel you need. For the purpose of this exercise, you’re aiming for 5 minutes.

NOW – if the thought of this stresses you out in itself, instead, try a guided meditation. There are a ton of FREE ones online. Check out MindfulMuscle.com for a good start. The chakra clearing is a great one to wake up or fall asleep to. It’s 20 minutes, but feels like 5 once you’re focused on your breath.

Guided meditations are a great way to ease into this practice.

Meditation can have powerful effects on the entire body – mental, physical and no doubt, spiritual.

With a regular practice, you can expect to experience some pretty cool things, such as:

1. Peace Of Mind

And more mental clarity. Leave the worries of your day behind you, even for 5 minutes. You will be amazed at how it can reinvigorate you and bring about positive thoughts.

2. Increase Grey Matter In Your Brain

A finding from a group of researchers at UCLA who used high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to scan the brains of people who meditate, found that this practice actually strengthens the brain.

In a study published in the journal NeuroImage, the researchers report that certain regions in the brains of long-term meditators were larger than in a similar control group.

Specifically, meditators showed significantly larger volumes of the hippocampus and areas within the orbitofrontal cortex, the thalamus and the inferior temporal gyrus — all regions known for regulating emotions.

It also lowers cortisol levels, which help to reduce not only stress, but inflammation too!

3. Strengthen Your Pineal Gland – The Center Of Intuition

Meditation helps to create more of an awareness and in doing so, you are able to tap into the deeper parts of yourself and your own KNOWING.

4. Improve Your Immunity

Research has confirmed the beneficial aspects of meditation. In addition to having better focus and control over emotions, many people who meditate regularly have reduced levels of stress and bolstered immune systems.

5. Alleviate Stress and Improve Your Mood

Just 5 minutes a day can shift your entire state of BEING. Don’t believe me? Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

6. Sleep Better

We all know how important this is. Realistically, too many people are not getting enough QUALITY sleep each night. Try meditating before bed to relax and release any stagnant thoughts. If your mind is still racing, keep a journal near your bed and after meditation, write out your thoughts to allow for a clean slate before your bed hits the pillow.

It’s estimated that roughly 14.5 minutes daily focused on mindset practices will help you to become a mental ninja –  for most, that’s only 1% of your day!

When you exchange Mindlessness for MindFULness – the entire Universe conspires with and for you.

Mindset is so powerful. It can make you feel bad about yourself…

Or it can catapult you in the direction of your deepest desires and work in your favor to create an abundant and meaningful life.

I know because I’ve been in a dark place.

The way out was to recognize my OWN light… and I see this with people I have worked with as well as people in the Fitlife community all the time.

MEDITATION WAS A TOOL I USED TO CLIMB OUT OF THAT PLACE AND COME INTO THE BEAUTIFUL PLACE I AM NOW. I still use this today.

drew2

YOU are so powerful. Your existence is a gift and something to HONOR.

Don’t waste your time here, my friend.

I know that life can get busy – but taking time out to cultivate a MINDFUL life and a MINDFUL heart can radically shift your experience.

The next time that you feel lost or unsure about the course of your life, I want you to stop what you’re doing and BREATHE.

Envision the life you want to create. The more you do this, the clearer it will become in your mind and in your truth. Then let the rest go.

Let Go Of Resistance And Embrace Your True Potential – Mindset Monday

organifi-web22

Get the mp3/podcast of this episode free on iTunes

Today I want to teach you something that has been fundamentally life changing for me. It took me some time to figure it out, but once it did, I was able to truly thrive.

I am confident it will be life changing for you as well and I hope you will give it a try.

First, I want you to think about something…

Most people only live at about 5% of their potential.

Five percent! That’s nothing when you think about it.

How does it make you feel that you have 95% of untapped potential, just waiting to be embraced?

It should make you feel pretty excited!

mm1-760x475

So why is it that so many of us are living below our true potential instead of striving for more of what we already hold within us?

Here’s what I believe: we, as human beings, like to stay safe. Because we want to stay safe, we feel resistance towards change. We don’t always realize this, but it’s true.

Often, we short-change our growth because we are subconsciously reacting to the resistance we feel and our inner selves are afraid of change. Even good change!

When Resistance Keeps You From Success

mm2

Maybe you’ve had a transformation goal – whether it be to lose weight, be more positive, eat more veggies, juice daily…

Or maybe you’ve tried to start your own business, pursue a relationship, better your overall health, or exercise regularly.

For a few days it works, but then one morning you wake up and don’t feel like doing it anymore. Nothing has changed necessarily, you were just starting to get a little uncomfortable.

Whether consciously or subconsciously, you started to feel resistance.

Instead of reaching for lemon water like you had the past few mornings, you reached for your favorite cup of coffee or that fancy mocha because it felt more comfortable – more familiar – to you.

But here’s the deal…

Resistance will kill your progress every time!

If you want to stop falling back on your New Year’s Resolutions, you’ve got to learn how to release resistance and get in flow.

The Secret To Breaking Free From Resistance

Here’s the big secret:

Resistance cannot exist when you are present.

mm3-760x475

In everything that we do, the more present that we become, the less resistance we will feel.

Remember, when you have a goal, it’s not just about the goal itself.

It’s about the journey you take to reach the goal.

This is where you’ll find the most fulfillment, happiness and growth.

Once you are able to release the fears and concerns of the past and pull your head out of the expectations of the future, you will arrive in the most significant, important space of your entire life.

The present moment.

It is time to accept and embrace the present moment. Your ability to do this will set you free and release that stagnant 95% of untapped potential you’ve been trying to find… that you already have within.

Screen-Shot-2015-12-07-at-3.26.14-PMI’m sure you’ve experienced a time when you just aren’t happy. Not in your relationships. Your career. Your LIFE. The moment when you just aren’t happy with the NOW. You don’t like it and you feel so much pressure that it is suffocating and you are furious because you can’t get what you want right now.

Being unhappy in the moment makes you a victim. You’re choosing to be helpless.

Think of it this way: if you want to get out of your house, you probably wouldn’t try to break through the wall… you would go through the door.

When you are in a hatin’ mood you feel trapped and just looking at the door makes you depressed and angry and you think the only way to get out would be if you could somehow break through the wall.

But when you breathe and embrace the moment, you are deciding that the current situation isn’t good or bad… it just is.

Once you accept this truth, you can calmly decide how to alter it to be what you desire. You become empowered.

We have to create the reality we want – and learn to not become victims to the reality in front of us.

mm4-760x473

The longer you resist, the longer it takes to get what you actually desire and deserve.

A Breathing Exercise

Still not sure how to apply this to your life? Here is a breathing/meditation exercise you can use to get you started.

The Exercise

Take a few slow, deep breaths, in and out. Try to pull your focus into the now. Next, when you breath in, breath in acceptance.

Focus on breathing in acceptance for everything that IS. You don’t have to agree with how things are or even like them, just accept them.

Next, when you breath out, breath out resistance. Release any resistance or tension you feel in your body.

Repeat as necessary.

You are a child of the universe. You have incredible potential. I believe in you! More than anything, I want you to believe in yourself and start enjoying each day you have to live.

Don’t be discouraged when things don’t end up how you’d planned. You have the power to change your situation as well as the power to choose how you react.

Remember, it is about the journey.

Staying Present Through The Mountains And Valleys – Mindset Monday

coaching banner

Get the mp3/podcast of this episode free on iTunes

“The victory of success is half won when one gains

the habit of setting and achieving goals.”

– Og Mandino

Last week we talked about the importance of goal setting and how to overcome resistance.

My videographer, David, asked me a great question after watching the video. Because I think you might have the same question, I decided to focus today’s video on his concerns.

David said that sometimes when he’s focusing on a future goal, he finds himself feeling discontent. Because he is thinking so much about what or who he will be in the future, he has a hard time accepting where he is at in the present.

Maybe you can relate to this. I know so many people do. I was once there myself.

But you have the power to change this and I want to help you do just that.

First of all, let’s talk about WHY we set big goals. Big goals help us to have a vision of the future so that we have the strength and motivation to take on a challenging journey. If we don’t set big goals, it’s hard to muster the strength to pull us through our highs and lows.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-29-at-1.10.03-PM

Big goals are important. But they are not the ONLY thing that matters when you are setting off on a transformation journey – whether it be on your body or your mind… or anything else you’re facing in the moment.

Something else that is of equal importance to your big goals are something I like to call micro-commitments.

A micro-commitment is when you focus on ONE thing in the present moment that is going to help pull you closer to your big goal in the future,

For example… we have a lot of our coaching clients focus on something simple in the beginning of their transformation, like drinking warm lemon water every morning.

It may seem like a small thing, but eventually drinking warm lemon water will turn into also drinking Organifi green juice. Drinking green juice will help lead to other healthy habits, which eventually will lead to them getting rid of all the junk food in their house. It may take time, but the point is that they are moving in a positive direction.

Micro-commitments don’t have to big lofty to make a difference. Taking one small step at a time in order to keep your focus in the present moment while also moving forward towards a big goal is imperative to your growth.

chick

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – R Collier

So, if you are finding yourself feeling discontent with yourself and your goals, it may be time to take a closer look at your micro-commitments.

Make sure you are setting small goals that will help you feel accomplished in the moment.

It’s kind of link a bank account. You put in a little at a time and end up with something much bigger in a few years. When you’re working towards a big goal, it feels good to put in $15 or $50 each paycheck. It keeps you focused and it keeps you moving forward, which is the ultimate reward. Progress.

You can also compare it to a snowball rolling down a mountain. One snowflake smashes up against another and eventually, a ball large enough to knock through any obstacle has been created.

One deposit, one snowflake, one step at a time. Soon you won’t believe how far you’ve come.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-29-at-1.14.08-PM

Here are a few tips to setting micro-commitments:

  • Choose micro-commitments that are specific and achievable on a day-to-day basis.
  • Write them down and put them somewhere that you will see them regularly.
  • Share your goals with a partner. Or, even better, find someone that has the same goal so you can support and cheer each other on.
  • Find small ways to reward yourself for keeping micro-commitments, outside of food.
  • If you’re having a hard time choosing your micro-commitments, sit down with a piece of paper and write down your ultimate goal. Then break it down into smaller and smaller pieces until you have micro-commitments that are doable and get you excited, bringing you closer to that goal daily.
  • community

Community is also important.

Sometimes you will wake up and really NOT feel like doing something. It is days like this that it is important to have people to reach out to for support.

Although your journey is unique, there are a lot of people who are trying to get to the same place you are.

We are stronger when we work together. We can accomplishment more as a team than we can on our own.

What fun is climbing a mountain alone anyways?

Our Coaching Program

Do you want to a join a community of people who have the same goals as you? Are you tired of walking this journey alone? Are you ready to connect with like-minded individuals who will share in your heartaches, setbacks and victories?

“Sometimes in life, we become so focused on the finish

line that we fail to find joy in the journey.”

– Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Life is not about getting to the end of the day.

Life is about finding joy, growth and fulfillment in the experiences we have during the day. Every day.

I am here to call you to a higher plane in life. I can see your potential. I know you have it in you. All you need is a vision, a plan to reach it and a push in the right direction.

Believe in yourself. All that you desire is within your reach.

The Dark Side Of Inflammation – Mindset Monday

As I’m sure you’re aware, disease has been escalating and getting worse over the past several years.

I’m guessing you or someone you love dearly is suffering from a chronic illness.

The more and more research we do at Fitlife, the more we realize that most illness and disease comes from ONE thing in particular…

Chronic inflammation.

Inflammation, or more accurately, too MUCH inflammation can be a scary thing.

This is why I’ve chosen to take time on a Mindset Monday to talk to you about inflammation. Not just in your body, but also in your mind.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-23-at-3.06.54-PM

Your MIND can’t truly be free if you are dealing with chronic pain.

If you are suffering from chronic disease…

If you’re depressed because of being in constant pain…

If you are losing hope that things will ever change…

This is for you!

Why We Are Inflamed

You have an incredible and complex immune system whose main purpose is to protect you from harmful substances.

Inflammation is your body’s natural response to a foreign invader. This could be cells, viruses, fungi, bacteria, chemicals, toxins, etc.

When tissues in your body are injured, the cells release chemicals that cause swelling and attract white blood cells to help remedy the situation and prevent it from spreading to other areas of the body.

In this case, inflammation is a good and natural thing.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-23-at-3.12.14-PM

The problem is…

We’re overtaxed.

Although your body can process a surprising number of toxins, it is most likely overwhelmed by the overabundance that is present in our modern society. Your grandmother didn’t have to deal with half of the chemicals that you are facing on a daily basis.

There are even more chemicals in our environment than ever before – from our food, to our beauty products, even the air we breathe… and that also includes the thoughts we think.

Your body’s immune system is exhausted and overworked. Plain and simple.

The standard american diet (SAD) is chock-full of inflammatory foods. Gluten, wheat, refined sugar and processed foods naturally trigger the body’s inflammatory response in the gut. You can imagine the damage that can happen when you are trying to ingest these foods on a daily basis (hello, autoimmune disease).

We’re also stressed.

Stress (especially chronic stress) also causes inflammation in the body. We live in a very go-go-go ambitious world. A lot of us are living more IN stress than out of it.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-23-at-3.13.22-PM

Many of us may also be struggling with inflammatory thoughts.

We think over and over again about our worries and have anxiety about the future. Even though we are trying to be positive, more often than not our thoughts will sneak into negativity and doubt.

Does this sound like you?

Stay tuned if so because I will give you some tips to help you overcome these causes below.

What Happens When We Ignore Signs Of Inflammation

It is easy to ignore problems when they are small. But in reality, this is the most important time to address them.

I’ve ignored my back pain before until it was so bad that I almost went to the ER. If I would have taken care of it immediately (listened and honored my body), it wouldn’t have escalated to a point that was debilitating.

It’s the same with our THOUGHTS. If you recognize that you have unhealthy thought patterns, NOW is the time to start changing them.

IF you can learn to recognize and ADDRESS those small signs that your body sends you each day, trying to let you know that something is wrong, you will be a lot happier, you’ll live a lot longer and you’ll have the energy and health you need to live up to your full potential.

How Recognizing Inflammation Could Change Your Life

What if 5 years ago you’d known how to change your diet and lifestyle in a way that PREVENTED the chronic condition you’re dealing with now?

Would you have made the changes?

It’s not too late.

hhiheih

Once you start to focus on some simple things to CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS and lower stress, you will:

  • feel better
  • think more clearly
  • think more sharply
  • be able to accomplish more
  • lower the inflammatory response in your body
  • be more present minded with the people you love

I am here making these videos and blogs because I want you to feel your best. It is our biggest aspiration here at Fitlife to help you transform YOUR life.

As the new year comes up, you and I need to work together. Neither of us can do this alone.

We need to learn everything we can to stop the rise of illness and disease and bring AWARENESS to our communities.

Together we can figure out what we need to do DAILY in order to transform our lives and transform the lives of others.

Tips To Overcome Inflammation

Screen-Shot-2015-11-23-at-3.35.16-PM

Sleep If you ask the average person if they got 8 hours of sleep the previous night, a surprising amount of them would say no. It is extremely important to your health and stress levels to get 7-9 hours of sleep every single night.

Lack of sleep has been linked to cognitive decline and memory problems. It’s hard to be positive when your mind is exhausted.

Meditation Not only does meditation help you stay present, but studies have also shown that it can help with symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression and other mental disorders just as well as or better than medication. Drugs are often a major cause of inflammation. I’m not saying you should stop taking any of your medications but, with the help of a certified physician, if you can use meditation and lifestyle techniques instead or with, it may go a long way in helping you feel better.

Qigong This ancient method combines focused breathing and movement in order to bring the body and mind into a peaceful state.

Hydration I drink 4-6 liters of water every single day, depending on my activity levels. A lot of people are chronically dehydrated and don’t realize it. These people compensate for their thirst by eating more food. Water is vital to every function in your body and is important to soothing inflammation in the body.

Turmeric There are over 1000 different case studies showing turmeric as one of the most powerful natural anti-inflammatories on the planet. I take turmeric daily. And I can’t wait to share a very special surprise I have coming for you… stay tuned for those details in the coming weeks!

Ashwagandha This is a powerful adaptogenic herb that helps bring the body back to balance after stress.

Breathe Learn to stop and breath. Practice deep breathing regularly. Through proper breathing you can slow your heart rate, lower cortisol (stress), slow your racing thoughts and reduce inflammation.

Challenge

Focus on doing just ONE of these things for seven days in a row. Write down any changes you notice. Next week, pick up another one.

You only have to take one step at a time.

There are so many factors that play a role in pain, but your MIND is powerful! And trust me when I say it CAN help eliminate chronic inflammation and alleviate or at the very least, decrease your painful symptoms.

Let’s kick inflammation to the curb and get you feeling 100% again!

Remember, we’re in this together.

How To Manifest The Perfect Person Into Your Life – Mindset Monday

coaching banner

Get the mp3/podcast of this episode free on iTunes

Do you ever find yourself hoping that a certain person will just walk into your life?

Maybe you’re looking for a business mentor. Maybe a significant other. Maybe you are hoping to finally find Mr. or Mrs. Right. Maybe you are simply looking for a best friend to go through life with.

Did you know you have some control over who walks in and out of your life?

The Universe is on your side. What you focus on – what you think about the most, your deepest desires… these all have potential to manifest in your reality if you know how to communicate with God and/or the Universe.

I am going to show you how to materialize the perfect person in your life experience.

Here’s how you do it!

111

#1 Write Down Every Quality You Want The Person To Have

Five years ago, I was looking for a specific type of mentor. I was at a crossroads in business and I needed someone with the right credentials and passions to come and pour knowledge into me that I was desperately seeking.

One day I sat down and wrote up a list of every quality I needed this mentor to have. I can still remember the list pretty clearly, even today. I was very specific.

I wrote things like:

  • super spiritual
  • relationship with God
  • runs multi-million dollar businesses
  • speaks 5 language
  • well traveled
  • passionate about people

It was really important for me to have a mentor for my business. Coming up with a list of qualities I wanted my mentor to have helped me visualize who he or she was going to be.

I put the list somewhere easily visible and looked at it every single day.

112-1024x682

#2 Visualize What It Would Be Like To Have Them In Your Life

When I looked at my list every day, I would visualize what it would be like hanging out with this person. I saw myself asking them questions, having conversations, going on trips with them, etc.

I visualized how they would make me feel and how my life and business would start to change due to their influence.

The more I did this, the higher my vibrational frequency became as I manifested what I desired into the Universe.

What we focus on the most we attract into our lives. Good and bad.

Within two weeks, I had someone call me asking to meet up for lunch. This person found me through an otherwise unsuccessful advertising campaign, but everything for a reason, right?

They had all of the qualities of the person I had written down on that piece of paper. And I had never met them before this phone call!

113-1024x403

It is time to get serious about your relationships.

If people don’t live up to the qualities you are trying to discover in your own life, then it is time to start spending less time with them.

I am sure you have heard this from me or someone else out there… we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with.

YOU have power over who comes in and out of your life! The trick is to be very clear about what you are going after and then remain open to what the Universe sends you.

If you don’t believe me… try it. What’s the worst that could happen?

I can’t wait to hear back from you in a few weeks. Manifesting is so powerful and it’s something that anybody can do. It’s something I encourage every single day.

Remember, we’re in this together.

How Successful People Handle Criticism – Mindset Monday

coaching banner

Get the mp3/podcast of this episode free on iTunes

“There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, saying nothing, and be nothing.” – Aristotle

Criticism… it can squash your confidence and leave you feeling upset, disheartened, or even angry.

What is it about hearing someone else mention our weaknesses that makes us react so badly? Even when they may be spot on?

I want to help provide you with a new perspective on criticism. I want to you to feel like you have control over how someone else’s comments make you feel and how you let opinions and suggests affect your life. Because at the end of the day, YOU are in charge of HOW you feel.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-08-at-11.11.52-PM

I used to get a lot of criticism. In fact, I still do! I use to feel bad about it and even guilty or shameful. It’s not always fun to hear someone highlight your weaknesses or provide feedback on where you can improve. But once I learned to shift my perspective, I learned to see criticism in a whole new light.

Now I look forward to criticism.

That may seem crazy or far-fetched, but it is true. Think of it this way…

You can choose to see things as jabs into your character or as incredible gifts to encourage your growth and expand your life.

A little piece (or even a big piece) of constructive criticism could be a chance to become better than you are right now. A sort of “wake-up call” from the Universe.

It doesn’t have to throw your life upside down. Our imperfections are what make you and I absolutely unique. We are all on a journey and learning is part of the process.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-08-at-11.13.03-PM

If you want to change your life; if you want to become a better person; if you are ready for progression and a life upgrade – learning to enjoy criticism is an excellent place to start.

The best people to ask for constructive criticism are your close, trusted friends. I like to ask those closest to me for their honest opinion on how I can be better. They see me in a way I likely don’t see myself and because I know they care about me, I know they will only speak from a place of sincerity and love in order to help me get to where I need to be – where they know I want to be.

My ultimate goal every day is to become a bigger, larger version of who I really am. If I’m stuck in my own head every day, it is hard to notice the bigger picture of how I am connecting and influencing those around me.

This is why hearing from the people around me is golden and such a HUGE and important part to personal growth and evolving.

I know you might not like criticism. Maybe it makes you stressed out or anxious. But you don’t have to feel that way.

The truth is, if it makes you mad, there may just be some truth to it. And that’s okay!

Screen-Shot-2015-11-08-at-11.14.18-PM

Embrace criticism and strive to create a life as your best self.

We are evolving each and every day. If we welcome that criticism then we have the chance to become bigger and brighter people. Just because you aren’t the best at something doesn’t make you any less of a person!

Develop strong confidence in who you are and criticism won’t be able to shake that.

When people point out things that sting or get under your skin or make you feel guilty, learn to accept them with grace and move on.

Although not everyone tells you things that are “constructive,” learn to either let go of what they say or brush it aside without it harming your self-esteem. You have the choice as to how you will allow these things to affect you. Don’t give other people the power to decide how you feel.

Screen-Shot-2015-11-08-at-11.15.57-PM

You don’t need to be perfect, but I encourage you to constantly seek higher ground.

Imagine what your life would be like if when a critical comment came your way, you were able to take it with a smile!

This is one of the tools I have used to get to where I am today. And it’s been one of the best, most transformative lessons I have learned along my journey. Having my eyes opened to things I may not have seen or may have been hiding behind forced me (in a good way) to step outside of myself and really dig into WHO I am and WHO I want to be.

Always remember, we’re in this together!

The Gift Of Struggle – Mindset Monday

coaching banner

Get the mp3/podcast of this episode free on iTunes

“Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.” – Napoleon Hill

Today I want to talk about struggle.

Struggle is something that is very real to all of us. I have never met a person who had made it through life without facing struggle in some form or another.

What challenges are YOU facing in your life right now? What pressures are you feeling? Do you ever just wish that your struggles could be taken away?

Despite the challenge they present, struggles are extremely important to our progression as human souls.

Struggle expands us, strengthens us and builds us into the best versions of ourselves if we let it.

Many of us spend a good deal of time worrying about struggle and failure, when we should be marching towards struggle as much and as often as possible.

Why?

Because bouncing back from it is what makes us better!

A Story

Screen-Shot-2015-11-02-at-2.05.46-PM

A little boy was out playing in the yard having the time of his life. Suddenly he saw the most amazing little creature; a caterpillar.

He did what any little boy would do and he swiped it up in the palm of his hand and brought it to his mom in the house.

“Mom! I found the most amazing caterpillar! Can I keep it?”

His mom looked at him with a smile and said, “Absolutely. But you have to take great care of it.”

So the little boy found the perfect jar and built a fort inside it for the caterpillar. He gave it everything it needed to be happy.

For days and days the caterpillar worked to build a cocoon while the boy watched with wide eyes. A few weeks later the boy noticed that there was a little hole in the cocoon. He realized the caterpillar must be ready to come out.

So out of love for his little pet and with the best intentions, he started peeling away the cocoon so that the caterpillar could more easily come out.

But, because he did this, when the butterfly came out it wasn’t strong enough to actually fly. Nature intended for the butterfly to have to work hard to get out of the cocoon, to struggle, in order to have the perfect amount of strength for life after the cocoon.

The Lesson

Screen-Shot-2015-11-02-at-2.07.15-PM

Like the butterfly, we are all presented with struggles in life that might not always make sense.

Struggle is necessary for growth.

If you look back on all of your struggles, I bet you will see that they have lead you to be the bigger and better person that you are today. Who might you be without them?

Remember this lesson, my friend.

Lean into fear. Lean into your struggles. When it gets hard, know that they’re making you bigger and better than you were before.

Spread those wings dear one – and fly.

Remember, we’re in this together.

4 Techniques To Radically Transform Your Life – Mindset Monday

coaching banner

Get the mp3/podcast of this episode free on iTunes

Today I’m going to show you four things you can do to scale up your life. These are things that I have learned over the years, which have had a profound effect in my own life and I know they have the power to shift your life in a positive direction too.

#1 Turn Inward

“As we journey inward we reflect our light outward.” – Baron Baptiste

Screen-Shot-2015-10-26-at-10.37.39-AM

A lot of people try to improve how they feel about their life by focusing outward. Not outward towards other people, but rather outward reaching for something they can hold in order to feel more valuable themselves.

These people go to the mall on the weekend and buy new stuff they believe will add value to their life. They are constantly seeking the approval of others in order to be validated and if they don’t get it, they spiral downwards.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of, but something to be aware of in order to make the changes necessary to achieve the life you truly desire.

I have been doing the opposite for years and it has radically transformed my life in more ways than one.

What if every single day revolved around you going inward instead?

What if you started taking time for yourself to figure out who you really are? What sets YOUR heart on fire? What do you really want to do with your life?

When was the last time you spent some time alone thinking about that stuff? Or more importantly, taking action to make those things a reality!

It is time to stop listening to the outside world and who they’re telling you to be. Everything you need to know about yourself and who you’re meant to become is already inside you, you just have to take the time to look.

The more you grow inside, the more beautiful and the more magnetic you will become.

As you add value to the inside world, your outside world will also begin to change. You will start to have opportunities you wouldn’t have dreamed of before.

#2 Change Your Thinking

“The ancestor of every action is a thought.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Screen-Shot-2015-10-26-at-10.40.32-AM

What we think about the most becomes who we are. In order to manifest your deepest desires and dreams, you must turn your thoughts into words and then into action.

The subconscious mind will believe what you tell it consistently.

Quiet your inner critic. Start that more positive self talk

Develop positive affirmations to help you rewire your brain and stop thinking in negative circles.. Pay attention to how you talk to yourself in your head throughout the day.

Do your thoughts build you up or tear you down?

Encourage you or discourage you?

Empower you or make you feel weak?

The power of your thoughts, especially about yourself, are immeasurable.

Think about this: what is the most beautiful car you’ve ever seen? Maybe the latest Porsche 911. Or the Cadillac ELR. Or a Ferrari 458 Italia. These cars didn’t just pop out of thin air. They started off as an idea, as a thought in somebody’s mind. Eventually these thoughts led to the creation of the most beautiful machinery on the planet.

If thoughts are powerful enough to move into the physical realm and become something as magnificent as a Ferrari, how powerful are your thoughts about yourself?

Maybe you don’t believe you’re a champion.

Maybe you don’t believe you have what it takes an amazing husband or wife or entrepreneur or fitness guru or mom or dad or whatever. Even if you don’t believe it,   you have to start telling yourself that you are good enough to be those things – because trust me, you are!

Eventually, your identity will shift.

If you are interested in learning more about this topic, I would highly suggest reading the book Psycho Cybernetics. It is AMAZING and it changed my thought patterns and in turn, it changed my life.

#3 Get Clear On Who You Want In Your Life

Screen-Shot-2015-10-26-at-10.43.29-AM

“People inspire you, or they drain you – pick them wisely.” – Hans F Hansen

It’s said that we become like the five people we spend the most time with.

The people you are with most help you define yourself and their energy quickly becomes entangled with yours. So who are you with the most? In a 24 hour period, how much time do you spend with people – and who are they?

Once you’ve thought of these people, ask yourself this: What are their ambitions? How do you feel when you’re around them? How enthusiastic and happy about life do they seem? Are they going to help you get to the next level? Do they encourage and support you? Do they help you stretch and push yourself? Or do they pour cold water on your ideas? Are they people you want to be like?

A lot of people in your life that you think are there to build you up might actually be tearing you down. They may act like they are building you up but behind your back they’re talking smack about you, they don’t want you to succeed.

Why? Because they are afraid that if you succeed, they will become less of a person. They are insecure about their own self worth and value and THEIR insecurities may be holding you back from YOUR fullest potential.

Just because someone doesn’t harmonize with your life right now doesn’t mean you have to disown them completely, but you should seriously consider lessening the time you are with them.

Start being with people that build you up, compliment you, think about you and truly want the best for you in life.

#4 You Have To Make Your Passion Your Purpose

If everyone did this, the whole entire world would CHANGE.

If people actually pursued their passion and did what they really loved to do in life…. there would be no poverty. There would be no depression.

People ask me all the time, “Drew, why are you so happy? What are you doing differently than me?”

Here’s the answer: I’m doing THIS. I’m putting myself out there and helping other people become the best versions of who they are. I’m spending my days figuring out ways to empower people to live their dreams. This is what fuels me!

I know that somewhere deep down you are longing to spread your wings and live in your passion zone.

You will absolutely, radically change your life when you start to pursue what you’re passionate about. I promise!

I hope you find these steps helpful. Because you are reading this blog, I know you’re trying to build a better life for yourself and the world around you, which is incredible.

Just remember…

Focus inward.

Change your thinking.

Get clear on who you want in your life.

And make your passion your purpose.

I can’t wait to hear the adventures you have.

Always remember, we’re in this together!
